Yes, anyone's worst nightmare... rain on their wedding day.

I thought the seating was very unique. Everyone was placed by finding their little watering can with a flower inside that had the table number!

Rich likes to randomly walk by you and snap a pic without even looking at what he's snapping at. I thought he should be gotten back for this... even though Im being a bit nicer as far as the choice of pic!
You'll never guess it... Most of us were sitting at the reception waiting for the bridal party to show up from pictures.. and all of a sudden the 3 layer cake toppled over. This caused many people to go running... and piece things back together the best they could... before the bride and groom got there! Such a horrible thing to happen!

Decorations..

These are just a few of the MANY pics of decorations!

Yes, Grandma's wedding dress. The material of the dress is SO vastly differenty from anything today.. and OH.. the buttons down the front. Who would want to button that many buttons to put a dress on?!
The Punch bowl
I absolutely love the idea of the rose pedals, 50 confetti, and the random wedding pictures scattered throughout all the tables. These were great touches added!

Helpers

Aunt Debbie was the decorator for this celebration. I did go and help her for about 12 hours setting up. An absolutely gorgorus job she did! Your talent was well worth it "Aunt Dah!"
Aunt Andrea was in charge of the food and Ilyssa helped!
Uncle Paul......
Now, this just had to be posted. George Johnson is our web site coordinator etc for our church and conference. He has a way of snaping some pictures, posting them.. and never letting up on them. Some of us have wanted to get him back... but Im being nice right now. =) Anyways, he was in charge of picture taking for this event.

Yes, I'm 24

I can't believe another year has come and gone so quickly. It's a bit scary to say the least! Im reflecting back over this past year and remember some very rewarding, exciting, stressful, emotional, risk taking times, but through them all, I feel as if Im a stronger individual because of them. We never know just what we will face each and everyday, but as long as we do our best, take one step at a time, and make the best at what comes our way... who can go wrong?!
***
I want to thank all the special people in my life for helping to mold me into the individual that I've become. Without each and everyone of you, I wouldnt be where I am today. Thanks for all the strength and encouragement, love & support given along the way. Without each other, life doesn't have much meaning!
TO ME!

At work, the nursing staff tries to give you a day off either on your birthday or as close as possible to it, as long as there is sufficient staff to cover. I thought "wednesday" was going to be my "birthday cut call," seeing I knew there was no chance of getting thursday off due to scheduling. Well, I did get "cut" today.. but nothing was mentioned about it being my birthday cut call. It sounded more like... the census was low and they didnt have a choice but to cut me. I recently went full time at work, hoping to avoid some of these cut calls. The facility starts with Per diem, then part time and fulltime last! Needless to say, I was kinda shocked to be getting cut... so however it goes.. whether it was a birthday cut or not.. I treated it as such! I needed a break from work as it has been a nightmare all week.

***

Now, that Im working today.. it looks like going out to dinner, birthday cake (of my choice) etc wont be able to happen until next week sometime. This weekend, people from all over the country will be coming in to help celebrate my Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary & 50 years of Ministry (seeing Grandpa is retiring next month as Conference Presdient). Family has been coming in this week to start putting everything together for their special day... so.. on my free time, I'll be helping where I can! Unfortunately, I didnt get that day off from work..so feel as if I need to be involved as much as possible when I can. Hopefully I can get some pictures of the events this weekend & will post them when I can.

****

Oh, by the way... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFFRY LYNN... I will always be 4 min older than you... even if I don't look it. Hope you have a great day!

Melissa's Bridal Shower

This past weekend Mom, Ange and I headed to LakePlacid/ Saranac area for my cousin's fiance bridal shower that Auntie & Leah had organized. I can't believe that wedding season is upon us once again! In less than 2 weeks Brad & Melissa will be married at St. Lawrence University chapel, but first... a shower had to be thrown for her! During this time, it was very nice to get to know Melissa a little more before the wedding. She will definitely make Brad a awesome wife.
I'm very happy for them both!

Aunt Ruth did such a beautiful job putting this shower together for Melissa, her soon to be daughter in law. You've always worked so hard "Auntie" with all your creativity. Everything was beautiful.
This basket was just some of the creativity that Aunt Ruth put together. I think Leah helped with deciding what went into the favors too.

..

Leah was in charge of all the games/entertainment for the afternoon. As always, Leah had some very creative ideas. I bet I drove her nuts at times "feeling her out" about the games, wondering just how much participation we all would have to do. Sometimes when in the right mood, I'm game to act/do stupid things regardless of who's around.. but today wasn't quite one of those days. This pic shows one of her many games... when Melissa would walk around the room while we all tried so desparetely to rememer all the household kitchen items pinned onto the apron. I belive there were 29 pieces in all, and I failed to even get half of them. I completely went on a blank!

I had been anxiously awaiting this time to meet my little cousin Anika for the first time. Whenever family would head north, I was always scheduled to work, unfortunately. She has definitely gotten big, and feel bad that it has taken so long. Such a cutie!

It seems to be tradition that whenever all 4 sisters can get together, a pic needs to be snapped. It makes perfect sense though, seeing everyone as a "family" doesn't seem to get together that often.

We all had such a nice time together!

Life...

Life is what we make of it! I've realized moreso these past couple years just how quickly life passes us by. Sometimes it's scary to say the least. I find myself evaluating life at different levels through different moments of time. What have I accomplished? What do I have to show for myself? Where am I reaching out to help others? ETC.

******

I find life is worth far more than just going to work, eating and sleeping. We need to make time for ourselves. Time is a priceless gift, and if we waste it without smelling the flowers along the way, it's sad to say... but it's our own fault. This is why when I get the opportunity to try something new, even if it's completely out of my comfort zone, I attempt to do it. A short while ago, my best friend and I decided to do some rock climbing. I knew it would take some strength and energy, but I was bound to try. I've been trying to workout hard at the gym, hoping it would pay off a great deal. To my suprise (well not really), I struggled a bit, regardless of how much time was put in at the gym. It was a bit embarrassing to say the least, when you had people below you.. cheering you on. YOU CAN DO IT. YOU'RE DOING GREAT. Etc. My biggest fear was falling, and the more I thought about it, the quicker I felt my strength run out of me. It's actually a very weird feeling. In the end, I was glad I went. It was another thing to add to my list of things I've done, and would gladly do it again.

*******
I love caves.
The formations of rock over time are very fascinating to say the least. Some people would be too closterphobic for some close/ tight corners. The ones Ive visited havent been too bad, actually. Our tour guide took along some flash lights for us on our way back out of the cave. In order to conserve electricity, once we got to a certain point, the lights behind us would go off, and a new set would go on. No problem there for me, but on the way back, the tour guide gave us the option to have all lights off without having flash lights, lights out with flash lights, or scrap the flashlight plan and stick with lights on. My personal opinion was... there was no way I wanted to feel my way thoughout a cave without a light. Some of the paths were a bit narrow, water on the sides, little bridges along the way etc. Just to show us how dark everything would be, the tour guide did shut out all lights for a moment and had us see if we could see our finger in front of us. NOTHING. PITCH BLACK. I thought.. no way!
********
On a hot day, it would have been incredible to be 100 feet below the ground. The temperature was 50 or 55 in there. Even though it was a bit chilly that day, even after coming up from the cave, it felt wonderful.

Bowling has become an interest for me. Ive only ever bowled 3 times in my life, but I'm finding that I actually enjoy it. I can't say I'm all that good, but every time gets a little better.

*******

Sometimes, I really think we all get in such a rut about only doing things we've always done - as in while growing up, that we miss out on things life has to offer. I've found a bowling place that is low key in the sense of atmosphere, which is incredible, for I dont think I'd be as fond of it with LOUD entertainment, drinking, partying etc. So far, so good.

*******

Last but least.......Who fell for the first picture above with the rock climbing?!!? That is some rock climbing that I can't see myself EVER doing. I really would die doing that. So, below is actually more like what was done. Either way, it was very tiring, but FUN!
